4 How many lighting zones does the space require?

Count every independently-controlled lighting group (teaching wall, classroom general, accent, corridor lights, warehouse aisles…). Not every zone needs dimming — corridors and warehouses are often switched-only.

Each Olympus covers 2 dimming channels + dual 16A relays (for switched zones; plug-load control on the roadmap). Exclude daylight zones here — we add those in Step 5.

5 Daylight zone analysis

Daylight zones get a +1 dimming zone on the controller, driven by the Sierra integrated photocell.

6 Controlled receptacles (plug load)

IECC requires a percentage of 125V 15/20A receptacles to be automatically switched in most commercial spaces. This adds +1 switched relay zone to the system.

Include plug load Plan a switched zone for controlled receptacles (feature on the roadmap). Not required Space is exempt or receptacle control is out of scope.

7 Wall stations (engineer's call)

How many wall stations do you want, and which style? Daylight zones skip the wall station by code — sensors handle them.

8 Occupancy sensing coverage

The Sierra is rated for 1,000 sqft at a 9 ft ceiling; we plan one per 500 sqft for overlap and furniture. Override if your layout needs a different count.

The Olympus system, simplified

Zone-based control

Every Canyon project is built around zones — a fixture, a room, or a cluster. Each Olympus controller handles up to two dimming zones plus dual 16A relays.

Flexible dimming

0–10V dimming with millivolt precision — mix dimmed and switched zones freely. Add warm dimming for tunable-white LEDs when you need it.

Smart switches

Pick Aspen dials, Tahoma buttons, or both. Every switch is plug-and-play over Cat5e and auto-programs from its zone selector.

Sensors & daylighting

Pair with Sierra sensors for occupancy, vacancy, or daylight-harvesting — no extra programming, no extra wires.
